Opening Night of the RSNO Scottish Proms

To say Tchaikovsky had a turbulent life is a bit like saying the Titanic had a fairly
interesting maiden voyage. But, as is often in cases of artistic genius, chaos creates
the sublime. Tonight we’ll showcase three of his most popular pieces and, in the
tender care of our Musical Director Stéphane Denève, expect a fresh exuberance
from every moment. Great contrasts too, from the playful themes of The Nutcracker
through the grandeur of the First Piano Concerto and head-on into the emotional
upheavals of Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony. Deep nourishment for the spirit,
we dare you to remain unmoved.

HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:

TCHAIKOVSKY
Excerpts from The Nutcracker

TCHAIKOVSKY
Piano Concerto No1

TCHAIKOVSKY
Symphony No4

Stéphane Denève [CONDUCTOR]
