If we don't use this forum we will lose it!
The RSNO are making the effort, shouldn't we?

I suppose, but to be fair, the BBC SSO blog doesn't seem to be attracting that many punters either, so it isn't a problem peculiar to this forum.

I think it's a "critical mass" thing myself. The livelier web forums (fora?) I visit have a nucleus of frequently-posting individuals who will start discussions on anything and everything (relevant or otherwise...!) and the quieter members seem to feed off that. This forum just doesn't seem to have enough people like that yet. Once it does I'm sure things will start to take off.

As DJMurdoch suggests it is probably related to the number of people who access the site. The RSNO will have hit-rate statistics but in fact do little to advertise the existence of this forum. The concert programmes would be a good place to start.

The website itself falls into the trap of trying to put too much information on the same page. As is often the case a triumph of clever design over practicality. On a casual visit it is not that obvious that there is a forum.

Having said that, the National Anthem business got a lot of hits.

It would be good if regular concertgoers, and members of the orchestra, noticeable by their absence here, could find this a useful means of exchanging views and opinion. I think I'll start a few threads and see what, if anything, happens.

I think that, in particular, is a very good point...it could potentially make for some enlightening discussions if some of the musicians were to come on here occasionally to share their insights.
