John Lill - 2007/02/16 15:20
Hey everyone! Just wondered if anyone was at the Symphonies at Six last night? If you weren't you truely missed out. Maybe im slightly biast because I'm a huge fan of John Lill...especially playing Beethoven!
Also, I was really impressed with the layout of these new style of concert, Symphonies at Six. Not only are tickets a fiver for those of us lucky enough to be under 26 But also, £12.50 for the rest of you, for ANY of the seats. Which means you can sit in the posh seats and pretend to be rich for the night.
The free programmes is an extra added feature. Thought the wee to find out more sections at the bottom of the pages were "well cute!"
I know this is turning into a rather long post, but I did warn you that students take over message board. My last and final thought on last night's concer twas that Garry Walker got an amazing sound from the orchestra, the best I think I've ever heard him produce from them. If you didn't go last night, try and go tonight! The RSNO should pay me for PR!

Hi Han, It's always a delight to hear John Lill play. He has such commanding authority which, together with prodigious technique, is always placed at the service of the music. The Symphony struck me as a good routine performance, nothing wrong with that, and at least GW spared the audience his usual lecture. AD

GW's speech was rather short. I think kind of along the lines of "I haven't prepared anything!" Did you see that Tumelty agreed with you about the routine perfomance bit? Recital was great though. First time I've heard Lill play a recital piece. So good!!!!!! Han
