I'm trying to get hold of a recording of Ethel Smyth's 'The Wreckers' but not having much luck. Does anyone have suggestions of where I can get the whole thing, rather than just the overture on a compilation cd?

Forgive my ignorance, but who is Ethel Smyth?

Not aware that she ever had anything to do with the SNO.

It was recorded in 1994 for Conifer. It no longer seems to be available but there are at present 2 copies on Amazon.com, ie Amazon in the USA not the UK, for under $12. I have bought from this source without problem. AD

The SNO recorded the overture on the famous "Music of the Four Countries" disc in 1968 with AG. AD

Ann Dante, if there was an Oscar for "RSNO genius", you'd win it!

This is your forum - you can talk about anything you like! Even if it's not strictly RSNO-related, and especially when we have such knowledgable and enthusiastic contributors posting - it can often be a great help to folk wanting to know more.
There's plenty to talk about in the classical music world at the moment - post to your heart's content!
