Cello

Rachel Lee studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester with Moray Welsh. After graduation she stayed in Manchester where she enjoyed a busy freelance career, working with, amongst others, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the orchestras of both the Northern Ballet and Opera North. She was also invited to join the teaching staff at Chethams School of Music. In 1991, Rachel joined the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra where she stayed for two years before joining the cello section of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. When not on stage with the RSNO, Rachel can often be found travelling throughout Scotland as an active member of the orchestra's education and outreach programmes.

Viola

Mike Lloyd studied at the Royal College of Music in London and on leaving in 1979 he joined the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. In 1981 Mike was invited to join the Philharmonia Orchestra as it’s Sub Principal viola and remained there until 2000, playing with most of the foremost conductors and soloists of the day. Whiles there he met Tamas and together they formed the Halversen Duo. They have given many concerts together delighting audiences witht eh sponteneity of their performances. Mike moved to Scotland in 2000 to take up his current position as Assistant Principal viola with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Despite concentrating most of his musical like on the symphonic repertoire, he has always found time for chamber music, both playing and coaching at various chamber music courses throughout the United Kingdom. Mike also has a business restoring and rehairing bows of the stringed instrument family.
