Richard Kaufman


Grammy Award-winning conductor Richard Kaufman has devoted much of his musical life to conducting and supervising music for film and television productions, as well as performing film and classical music in concert halls and on recordings. The 2015-2016 concert season marks Richard’s twenty-fifth season as Principal Pops Conductor of Orange County’s Pacific Symphony. He holds the permanent title of Pops Conductor Laureate with the Dallas Symphony, and is in his tenth season with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra concert series, “CSO at the Movies”, conducting classic and contemporary film music, as well as classical music used in motion pictures. He regularly appears as a guest conductor with symphony orchestras throughout both the United States and around the world. Richard returns to Scotland this season for two engagements with the RSNO. Recently, Richard made his conducting debut with the Boston Pops Orchestra as a last minutes substitute for John Williams at the Annual Boston Pops Film Night. This coming August, at the invitation of Mr. Williams, Richard will share the podium with the legendary film composer in a concert of film music at Tanglewood, Massachusetts. Along with his conducting career, for 18 years Richard supervised music for MGM Studios
