A workshop exclusively for violinists who are looking to try something new. This is a chance to experience the rich mellow sound of the viola in a hands-on, participatory workshop.

Instrument Petting Zoo

Our mobile instrument petting zoo gives pupils the opportunity for hands-on experience of playing and hearing every instrument in the Orchestra.

Presentation Masterclass

This intensive session is suited for examination pupils. The session focuses on how the pupils' present themselves during performance and how they communicate with the audience, rather than technical musicianship skills. Video will also be used.

Instrumental Coaching

Our musicians are available to assist with any school or youth orchestras and/or bands. Coaching sessions can be adapted to the needs of each pupil.

Conducting

Ever fancied trying your hand at conducting? Our RSNO Assistant Conductor will lead you through the basics and give you an insight into how it is done.

    Participants don’t need to be able to read music but must be able to follow a score (could be a graphic score).

Samba for Strings

An exciting rhythmic workshop for string players of any ability. Using Brazilian samba techniques, this is a fun and fresh approach to playing any string instrument.

    Participants must play a string instrument – no minimum standard.

Beginners’ Improvisation

Throw away the rule book and join us for a fun workshop looking at free improvisation. There are no wrong notes here as the focus is on sound, tonality and most of all, confidence. Longer workshops will work to create an improvised performance.
