Classic FM Presenter joins Scotland’s national orchestra to share a love of the great composer
Radio/TV presenter, author and journalist John Suchet, who presents the weekday morning programme on Classic FM, will step back from the microphone at the end of March to present a series of concerts in Scotland dedicated to his favourite composer, Ludwig van Beethoven.
John, who has so far written six books on the life and works of the 18th century German composer, will share his knowledge of key moments in Beethoven’s life which shaped the music we know today.
In partnership with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO), John Suchet presents Classic FM Hall of Fame: John Suchet’s Beethoven, at the Caird Hall, Dundee on Thursday 26 March, at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh on Friday 27 March, and at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Saturday 28 March.
RSNO Music Director Peter Oundjian and winner of the 2014 Scottish International Piano Competition (SIPC) Jonathan Fournel, who won the opportunity to perform these concerts as part of the SIPC prize, join John for performances of three of Beethoven’s most cherished works; the Egmont Overture, Piano Concerto No3, and Symphony No5.
John Suchet: “I am so excited to be sharing the stage with the great Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Classic FM’s Orchestra in Scotland, for a programme of Beethoven’s music. I’ll tell you things about Beethoven I guarantee you didn’t know before, and you’ll hear his music through fresh ears.”
