Classic FM’s 20th Birthday Party with the RSNO

Scotland’s national orchestra celebrates 20 years of the UK’s favourite classical radio station with a star-studded gala concert at the Royal Albert Hall on 24 September

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) has been invited to mark 20 years’ broadcasting of the UK’s biggest classical music radio station Classic FM with a celebratory concert, Classic FM Live, at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Monday 24 September 2012.
The RSNO, Classic FM’s Orchestra in Scotland, will perform to over 5000 people alongside soloists including classical chart-topping Welsh tenor Wynne Evans, outstanding Korean pianist HJ Lim and one of the UK’s most treasured artists, multiple award-winning violinist Tasmin Little OBE, whose services to music were recently recognised in The Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2012. The RSNO and soloists will be also be joined by the critically acclaimed Crouch End Festival Chorus, all led by Scottish conductor Douglas Boyd and hosted by Classic FM presenters John Suchet and Margherita Taylor.
The gala evening’s repertoire includes performances of Classic FM Hall of Fame favourites, including Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No2, Vaughan Williams’The Lark Ascending and Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, complete with fireworks finale.
