Aimee Toshney

Scottish Soprano Aimee, a graduate of English National Opera‘s ’Opera Works’ training programme, studied at the University of Glasgow (MA Music 1st Class Hons, MMus Musicology with full scholarship) and the Royal Northern College of Music (MMus Performance with distinction), winning prizes in music and languages and the grateful recipient of a number of scholarships and awards.

Commended for ‘a beautifully smooth, lyrical voice’ (Opera Scotland) and ‘a clear stage presence’ (TyneOut), her performance experience encompasses operatic soloist and chorus roles, concert work, and traditional Scottish music.

A qualified Kodály musicianship tutor, she also enjoys a busy career teaching and leading choirs and outreach projects around the UK and Ireland. Currently she is a choral director for the National Youth Choir of Scotland, a lecturer for the Junior department of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, a tutor for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Junior Chorus, and an animateur for organisations including Jessie’s Fund and the Leeds Lieder festival.

Aimee is much commended for her ‘sparkling’ delivery on-stage and a workshop style that is down to earth and encouraging. She brings intelligence, fun, and a great love for music and people to every role she inhabits, both on stage and in professional life!
