In March 2021, we celebrated our Principals and the instruments they play. Featuring Katherine Bryan (Principal Flute), Adrian Wilson (Principal Oboe), David Hubbard (Principal Bassoon) and Christopher Hart (Principal Trumpet), each Principal created a fun Beginner's Guide to their instrument, gave an insightful talk into life as a professional musician, and performed a beautiful concerto.

All of these videos are now available to watch for free and on demand. Simply scroll down to watch on our website or visit our YouTube channel. Don't forget to subscribe to us on YouTube to never miss a video!

Beginner's Guides

Fun, short guides perfect for beginner's. Discover the sounds the flute, oboe, bassoon and trumpet can make, listen to top tips for playing and hear each Principal's case for why they think their instrument is the best!

Pre-concert talks with our Principals

In these pre-concert talks, Associate Principal Oboe Peter Dykes interviews Katherine Bryan, Adrian Wilson, David Hubbard and Chris Hart about life as a professional musician, their top tips for auditions and why they love the music that was created for their instrument.

Concerto performances

Our Principals take centre stage in these concerto performances recorded with a socially-distanced Orchestra. Enjoy Mozart's Flute, Oboe and Bassoon Concertos and Haydn's Trumpet Concerto.

Principals Month is dedicated to the RSNO Chair Patrons. A very special group of individuals whose giving is channelled through forming a personal connection with an RSNO musician. We are delighted to thank them all for their support.

Katherine Bryan is supported by the David and Anne Smith Chair, Adrian Wilson is supported by the Hedley Wright Chair, David Hubbard is supported by the James and Morag Anderson Chair, and Christopher Hart is supported by the Ms Chris Grace Hartness Chair.
