Ewen McKay, Head of Orchestra Management
Ewen is responsible for overseeing all matters relating to orchestra personnel, including management of recruitment processes, contract negotiations, and human resource issues. Duties also include management of artist care for visiting conductors and soloists and a responsibility for operational planning and delivery of orchestral activity.
A graduate of the University of Edinburgh and Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Ewen joined the RSNO as Orchestra Assistant in June 2001, was promoted Assistant Orchestra Manager in 2004, and to Orchestra Manager in June 2007.
Prior to joining the RSNO, Ewen enjoyed a varied career as a freelance project administrator, professional trombonist, peripatetic brass instructor for many local authorities in Scotland, tutor for regional and national youth orchestras and ensembles, and founder conductor of the Inverclyde Schools Brass Ensemble.
