Where to find the RSNO at the Edinburgh International Festival 2026

Edinburgh International Festival (EIF) have launched their 2026 programme, the theme for which is ‘All Rise’, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.

All Rise is also the name of the opening concert on Saturday 8 August in which the RSNO will join jazz legend Wynton Marsalis, his Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, the Edinburgh Festival Chorus, Jason Max Ferdinand Singers and the renowned conductor James Gaffigan.

In memory of the late John Wallace, an inspirational trumpeter, composer and educator, members of the RSNO’s brass section will perform a programme of Wallace’s own music, Mussorgsky and Bendinelli alongside players from The Wallace Collection ensemble, RCS Junior Conservatoire, StAMP, the SCO and BBC SSO.

Later in the month, the RSNO will become the pit orchestra with the San Francisco Ballet for the European premiere of Mere Mortals. With four performances in Edinburgh Playhouse, this futuristic retelling of Pandora’s Box is brought to life by an original score by electronic musician Floating Points (Sam Shepherd).
