Chair of Glasgow Life joins RSNO Board of Directors

Glasgow City Council’s Bailie Annette Christie joins the Board of Directors of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO).

Chair of Glasgow Life and Councillor for Glasgow East Centre Ward, Bailie Christie has a dedicated and varied career behind her and brings her deep knowledge of Scotland’s political landscape and love of the arts to her new position.

Bailie Annette Christie said:It is an honour to join the RSNO Board of Directors to help support this incredible pioneering national performing arts institution based in Glasgow, a UNESCO City of Music. As one of Europe’s leading symphony orchestras the RSNO supports the delivery of Glasgow’s Culture Strategy ensuring Glasgow and Scotland remain on the international stage while also inspiring future generations of audiences and performers. Music sparks the imagination and frees the mind, it is the beating heart of a city, and the rhythm is palpable in Glasgow’s streets.’

RSNO Chair Gregor Stewart said: ‘We’re so pleased to welcome Bailie Christie to the Board; her wealth of experience will be a real asset to the Orchestra. The Orchestra has been going from strength to strength lately with international tours, many recordings for film, tv and videogame soundtracks, and critically acclaimed concerts. Bailie Christie’s appointment only serves to bolster our reputation in Scotland and beyond, and I look forward to working with her.’

Bailie Christie joins the RSNO’s Board of Directors following the recent publication of its recent Economic and Social Impact Assessment which examines the Orchestra’s economic and wellbeing contributions to the Scottish economy. The report details how the RSNO supports the local economy through employment, tourism, and supply chain spending, whilst also generating significant social impacts through our engagement work.
