Denis Kozhukhin replaces Joyce Yang

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) announces that Denis Kozhukhin will replace Joyce Yang for this week’s performances of Grieg’s Piano Concerto in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The RSNO is extremely grateful to Denis Kozhukhin for stepping in at the last minute and wishes Joyce Yang a speedy recovery from injury.

Award-winning pianist Kozhukhin frequently appears with many leading international orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam, London Symphony Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra. Kozhukhin has twice recorded work by Grieg, with his 2016 release of Tchaikovsky and Grieg Piano Concertos described as “incontestable, complete” by Gramophone.

Last month the RSNO announced that Jonathon Heyward will replace Edo de Waart, with the concert repertoire remaining unchanged. Heyward debuted with the RSNO this January, for a recording of Florence Price’s Second Violin Concerto with soloist Rachel Barton Pine. The recording was released on the Cedille label in September, reaching number five on the Billboard Classical Album Chart. He is Music Director of the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie and Music Director Designate of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra.
