New Sir Alexander Gibson Memorial Conducting Fellow announced Posted Thu 10 September 2026
Due to unforeseen circumstances, our recently appointed Sir Alexander Gibson Memorial Conducting Fellow Gabriella Noble is no longer able to take up the position. We are delighted to announce that Glasgow-based choral director Jenny Cheung has stepped into the role. Jenny leads community choirs and school-based singing programmes for both young people and adults and is the founder and director of The Voice Project Scotland, an organisation dedicated to helping people discover their voices and participate in singing.
On her appointment, Jenny Cheung said: ‘I have sung with the RSNO Chorus for the past three seasons, and stepping into the Sir Alexander Gibson Memorial Conducting Fellowship this year is truly a milestone in my journey as a musician. I am deeply excited to learn from both the chorus and the creative team, and to contribute meaningfully to an ensemble working at such an exceptional level. This opportunity represents the standard of musicianship I have long been striving toward, and I am thrilled to further my learning within such a distinguished musical community.’
Named after the Orchestra’s former Principal Conductor, the Sir Alexander Gibson Memorial Fellowship offers a year-long training opportunity for choral conductors.
