RSNO partners with Adam Mickiewicz Institute

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) announces a new partnership with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, promoting international cultural exchange between Scotland and Poland.

Previously with the support of the Institute, the RSNO presented its Polska Scotland series during Season 2020:21 to international audiences of over 450,000 people online. The new series of projects in Season 2023:24 will build on this success, releasing livestreams of concerts performed to audiences across Scotland featuring Polish repertoire; a RSNO recording of the Scottish Premiere of André Tchaikowsky’s Violin Concerto; and an album of live recordings of Polish repertoire released on the RSNO’s own label via Linn Records.

Alistair Mackie, RSNO Chief Executive said: ‘The RSNO has a growing history of celebrating the works of Polish composers and we are delighted to extend this further with the Adam Mickiewicz Institute. As the Polish community is the biggest non-British sector of the Scottish population, it is important that Scotland’s National Orchestra maintains this link across our Concert Season. We have highly engaged digital and live audiences who we are excited to share this diverse repertoire with; promoting further connections between Scotland, Poland and the wider cultural community.’

Audiences worldwide can watch the release of the first project, a recording of the Scottish Premiere of André Tchaikowsky’s Violin Concerto, on Thursday 18 January on YouTube @TheRSNO. Later projects include a performance of Szymanowski’s Suite from King Roger as part of the ‘Romantic Valentines’ concerts (15/16/17 Feb – Aberdeen/Edinburgh/Glasgow) and performances of music by Bacewicz and Lutosławski with Music Director Thomas Søndergård (7/8 June – Edinburgh/Glasgow).
