RSNO appoints Shlomy Dobrinsky Associate Leader

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) has appointed Shlomy Dobrinsky to the position of Associate Leader. The appointment completes the front desk of the Orchestra following the recent appointment of Igor Yuzefovich as Principal Guest Leader, alongside Leader Maya Iwabuchi and Associate Leader Lena Zeliszewska.

A member of the Philharmonia for over 10 years, Dobrinsky brings a wealth of experience and acumen to his new role. Dobrinsky, a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, is an accomplished solo, chamber and orchestral musician and has played with a variety of artists such as Hiromi, Hugh Jackman, Mei Yi Foo and Maiko Mori.

Discussing his appointment to the role, Dobrinsky said: ‘I first performed with the RSNO as a guest nine years ago, playing Mahler’s Symphony No1, and as it happens this will be my first piece as the newly appointed Associate Leader. I am thrilled to be moving to my new home in Scotland with my husband and joining this wonderful musical family.’

RSNO Music Director Thomas Søndergård said: ‘I’m so pleased to welcome Shlomy to the RSNO family. He is a wonderful musician and talented leader and will bring so much to the Orchestra. I’m really looking forward to working with Shlomy in this and future Seasons.’

RSNO Principal Guest Leader Igor Yuzefovich said: I am delighted for Shlomy to be joining the Orchestra as Associate Leader.  His skill, sensitivity and awareness as a player, along with his warm and all-embracing personality will be an immense asset to the first violins and the Orchestra as a whole. He will be a great partner to both Maya Iwabuchi and me in shaping the sound of the strings. Welcome, Shlomy!’

Dobrinsky’s first performance as Associate Leader of the RSNO is Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto on 4, 5 and 6 December featuring Mahler’s Symphony No1 Titan in the second half.
