We recommend contacting a qualified solicitor to help you write or update your will to include a gift to the RSNO. If you wish to update your will, your solicitor may suggest you use a Codicil. This is a legal document that allows you to alter your will.

What kind of gift can I make?
There are two types of gift that can be made in a will that maintain their value over time:
Residuary legacy: This is the gift of a share of your estate once loved ones have been provided for. This type of legacy gift does not lose value over time.
Pecuniary legacy: This is the gift of a fixed sum of money. The value of a pecuniary legacy will decrease over time; however by linking your legacy to the Retail Price Index, you can ensure its worth in the future will match its worth today.
Are there any tax benefits to leaving a gift in my will?
If your estate is subject to inheritance tax, a gift to a charity is tax free and will reduce the amount of tax payable to the Government. For further information around tax implications, please contact your solicitor.

While a more general gift allows us to meet our most urgent needs within the RSNO, we are more than happy to tailor legacy gifts to specific interests and passions. We would be very happy to discuss this with you in person.
