Music Director Thomas Sondergard conducts two towering masterpieces in one unforgettable Season Opener. Piano superstar Alexander Malofeev shines in Rachmaninov’s glittering Fourth Piano Concerto. Composed in exile, it’s a work of brooding lyricism, lush orchestration and expressive melodies. Meanwhile, Mahler’s mighty Sixth Symphony is one man’s struggle against impossible odds, told in music of soaring emotion and shattering power. It’s the most gripping possible start to our new Concert Season. Be there.
