Associate Principal Trumpet Jason Lewis
When did you join the RSNO?
I joined the RSNO in July 2019.
Where are you from?
Where did you study?
The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama for my BMus, followed by a Master of Arts at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
What do you enjoy most about being in the RSNO?
Many things… I love the variety of repertoire we cover on a weekly basis, the people around me are brilliant musicians and great friends, Scotland has some great halls to play in too.
Tell us your favourite RSNO story/memory so far.
As I’m fairly new to the Orchestra I would say so far my favourite concerts have been this year’s Edinburgh International Festival concerts of Strauss’s Ein Heldenleben and Wagner’s amazing Götterdämmerung… Amazing music!! I’m sure there will be many more to come…
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not playing with the Orchestra?
I enjoy going to the gym, drinking coffee/beer, if I’ve the whole day off I often go and explore Scotland on my motorcycle, there are so many amazing roads with beautiful scenery all over Scotland.
Do you have any hidden talents?
None whatsoever I’m afraid….. Still working on the trumpet playing to be honest!!!
You’re stranded on a desert island. You’re allowed 3 CDs and 1 book. What would they be, and why?
Hmmmm good question. Well I guess I would take one of Passenger’s albums for some relaxing acoustic guitar, oh and the best of Dire Straits… Maybe some German Brass too!! As for the book… I’m afraid I don’t do too much reading, could I just take a Motorcycle magazine please?
