Assistant Principal Cello Kennedy Leitch

Supported by The David and Anne Smith Chair

When did you join the RSNO?
I joined the RSNO in June 2005.

Where are you from?
I am from Ayr

Where did you study?
I studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and also in Manchester at The Royal Northern College of Music.

What do you enjoy most about being in the RSNO?
The best thing about being in the RSNO is being part of a fantastic cello section, full of great players and great friends

Tell us your favourite RSNO story/memory so far.
My personal highlight of my time in the RSNO is playing Die Walkure with Sir Andrew Davis at the Edinburgh International Festival. The singers were incredible and the orchestra sounded fantastic.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not playing with the Orchestra?
Out with the orchestra I really enjoy cooking. I was eighth in MasterChef in 2011. As much as I enjoy it, I wouldn’t want to swap playing cello for a life in a kitchen!
