Associate Principal Violin Patrick Curlett

When did you join the RSNO?
I joined the RSNO in August 2012.

Where are you from?
I was born in Brighton but grew up in the beautiful county of Dorset

Where did you study?
I studied in Manchester at The Royal Northern College of Music.

What do you enjoy most about being in the RSNO?
Playing great music with friends

Tell us your favourite RSNO story/memory so far.
The Florida tour in March 2017 was so enjoyable, the weather and the hotels were fabulous and I feel the orchestra really bonded as a group.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not playing with the Orchestra?
I like getting out to the countryside, either climbing a mountain or going for a long bike ride. Playing poker, watching the football and going out with my friends.

Do you have any hidden talents?
Not that I’ve discovered, maybe others will disagree!

If you could have dinner with anyone (alive or dead) who would it be, and why?
I’d like to have dinner with Sir Alex Ferguson, I’m sure he has a few interesting stories to tell.

You’re stranded on a desert island. You’re allowed 3 CDs and 1 book. What would they be, and why?
The book would have to be something really long to kill time, maybe Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings. I can’t decide on 3 CD’s, I think just the sound of the ocean would do me.
