The Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) celebrates its 135th anniversary in the 2026:27 Dundee Concert Season with timeless classics, innovative programming and standout soloists.
Recently awarded the Royal Philharmonic Society’s prestigious Ensemble Award in recognition of the outstanding quality and scope of its performances and work, the RSNO demonstrates its on-going commitment to bringing high-quality performances to audiences across Scotland in the 2026:27 Concert Season. The RSNO’s Dundee Concert Season will spotlight contemporary voices, platform rising stars and local young musicians, and honour the greats of classical music with world-class visiting artists.
A week of firsts, captivating pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason makes her RSNO debut with the Scottish premiere of the pioneering Florence Price’s Piano Concerto in One Movement. Under the baton of Kellen Gray, this concert will also see the young musicians from Sistema Scotland’s Big Noise Douglas take to the stage alongside the Orchestra for a special side-by-side performance.
Later in the Season, Lera Auerbach’s Violin Concerto No1 receives its UK premiere with the phenomenal Philippe Quint. The RSNO’s Artist in Residence, mezzo-soprano superstar, Beth Taylor is joined by BSL performer Paul Whittaker in Berlioz’ La mort de Cléopâtre and Music Director Thomas Søndergård performs a concert exclusive to Dundee featuring music by Lili Boulanger, Szymanowski and Tchaikovsky.
Perfect for young audiences to dip their toes into the world of classical music, celebrated comedian Hugh Dennis returns to narrate The Snowman in the RSNO’s much-loved annual Christmas Concert which also features the RSNO Youth Chorus and Changed Voices choir. A city famous for its video games and an orchestra renowned for the quality of its recordings for video game soundtracks are a match made in heaven when the RSNO completes its Dundee Concert Season with Video Games Music in Concert in June.
