RSNO appoints Yuuki Bouterey-Ishido as new Sub-Principal Cello

The Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) is delighted to welcome Yuuki Bouterey-Ishido as its new Sub-Principal Cello following a period of audition and trial.

As part of the appointment process, Yuuki has performed with the RSNO and esteemed guest artists, including touring across Europe with the Orchestra, Music Director Thomas Søndergård and violinist Ray Chen earlier this year. Yuuki will officially start in his new position in May.

Originally hailing from New Zealand, Yuuki Bouterey-Ishido joins the Orchestra following the completion of a Master of Arts degree from the Royal Academy of Music, where he was awarded the prestigious Diploma of the Royal Academy of Music for his final recital performance. On his appointment to the RSNO, Yuuki said: ‘I am delighted and honoured to be joining the RSNO’s wonderful cello section. They have been incredibly warm and welcoming, and I am very much looking forward to many exciting concerts and projects to come!’

RSNO audiences will see Yuuki on the concert platform from the RSNO’s Rachmaninov Two concerts on Friday 17 May (Usher Hall, Edinburgh) and Saturday 18 May (Glasgow Royal Concert Hall). Find out more and book tickets here: www.rsno.org.uk/rachmaninov-two/
