Scotland’s National Orchestra to return to Germany following successful performances at the Rheingau Musik Festival Posted Mon 24 August 2026
Following its successful debut at the Rheingau Musik Festival last week, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) has announced its next tour to Germany and Austria later this year.
November sees the RSNO perform seven concerts over seven days, taking the Orchestra across Germany and into Austria with Music Director Thomas Søndergård. Joined by three acclaimed solo pianists: Anna Vinnitskaya, Roman Borisov and Olga Scheps, the RSNO will perform a varied programme including Dorothy Howell’s Lamia, Brahms’ Symphony No4, Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No2 and Mendelssohn’s Scottish Symphony.
RSNO Chief Executive Alistair Mackie said: ‘We’ve just returned from a fantastic two days in Wiesbaden performing at the Rheingau Musik Festival. It was our first time at the festival and the warm reception from our German audiences was very encouraging. I am so pleased that we are returning in November for an extended period, building our reputation across the Channel as a touring orchestra. Showcasing Scotland’s talent and raising the profile of our country is a privilege and something we don’t take for granted at the RSNO. I look forward to seeing our international audiences again very soon!’
The RSNO’s tour begins in Essen on Tuesday 17 November, taking in Mannheim, Erlangen, Ludwigsburg, Regensburg and Munich. The tour concludes with a concert in Austria’s Innsbruck Congress on Monday 23 November before the Orchestra returns to Scotland.
