Community Singing Director (Dundee) David McLean
David McLean is a musician, educator, and choral leader, known for his dedication to advancing vocal arts and music education. He holds a Master’s degree in Vocal Music from the University of Aberdeen, where he specialised in Kodály-based music education.
David is a skilled Kodály practitioner and passionate advocate for inclusive music-making. He currently works for Dundee Instrumental Music Service as a Kodály specialist, promoting musicianship and singing through the Kodály approach. In addition to his teaching work, David conducts the NYCOS Angus Area Choir, inspiring young singers to develop their musical skills and confidence.
His professional experience is varied and includes leading choirs and delivering musicianship training in both educational and community settings. David’s philosophy centres on fostering creativity, confidence, and connection through music, ensuring that singing is accessible and enjoyable for all. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to his vision of enhancing music education and performance, making music an integral part of life for individuals and communities alike.
