Come and join All Together Now with the RSNO!

The Community Orchestra provides the perfect opportunity for amateur musicians of all ages to play together, whether you played an instrument at school and haven’t picked it up in years or are a new beginner player.

The Orchestra meets on Sundays throughout the RSNO Season and works towards a performance pre-RSNO concert in November 2023 and a showcase concert for families and friends in May 2024.

Join our community orchestra, All Together Now!, for a very special pre-concert performance of a brand-new piece by young Scottish composer Nancy Johnstone. Winner of our 2022:23 Notes from Scotland project, which was generously funded by the John Mather Trust, Nancy received the John Mather Stipend to support her composition, which will be premiered ahead of our Christmas Oratorio.

This pre-concert performance will take place in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Saturday 25 November at 6.45pm. The event is free, but ticketed. To order your tickets click here.

About Community Orchestra: All Together Now

What is it?

We will have 11 in-person rehearsals throughout September 2023 – May 2024. Rehearsals will be held in The Pyramid at Anderston and will be a mixture of tutti (everyone working together) and sectionals (working with just your instrument).

You will receive coaching from the Community Orchestra: All Together Now conductor Robert Baxter, as well as RSNO musicians as you prepare your parts. The first part of the project will be working towards performing a brand new piece of music, on stage before an RSNO Season Concert! This is the first time All Together Now will perform as part of a Season event, and we are so excited to present this special concert.

Throughout the year, we will also run workshops and socials including an end of year Ceilidh! Orchestra members will also be offered discounted tickets to attend select RSNO performances.

Sunday 3 September 2023: 1.30pm – 4.30pm (Full rehearsal)

Sunday 24 September 2023: 1.30pm – 4.30pm (Full rehearsal)

Sunday 8 October 2023: 1.30pm – 4.30pm (Sectional rehearsal)

Sunday 5 November 2023: 1.30pm – 4.30pm (Sectional rehearsal)

Saturday 25 November 2023: Timings TBC (Full rehearsal and concert)

Who is it for and how much does it cost?

Open to all abilities and ages 10 to 110, the repertoire is aimed at Grade 1 to Grade 4 (ABRSM).

Please note that there are a set number of places available within the Community Orchestra and priority will be given to applications to ensure a full and balanced orchestra. If the number of applications exceeds this, musicians will be placed on a waiting list. Places will be reviewed throughout the year and if availability opens up across any section, applicants on the waiting list for those instruments will be notified.

We operate a pay-what-you-can model. If you would like to support the project, we suggest a £5 donation that can be paid on arrival by cash or card.
