RSNO Community Orchestra welcomes amateur musicians from across Scotland, and is a mixed ability ensemble, roughly aimed at musicians at around grades 1-4.
About Community Orchestra: All Together Now
We’ll be meeting monthly to get together for online rehearsals and social time, as well as meeting in person in the RSNO Centre in Glasgow, for sectional rehearsals. You’ll receive coaching from the Community Orchestra conductor and RSNO musicians as you prepare your part in the piece. By October, we will have all learnt our parts and you’ll be asked to submit a recording of yourself from home, which will all be put together to create a video of the piece, which will be released on social media before Christmas.
Sectional Rehearsals at the RSNO Centre, Glasgow:
5 September 2pm – 4.30pm – Woodwind
12 September 3pm – 5.30pm – All Strings
3 October 2pm – 4.30pm – Brass and Percussion
If you do not want to attend in person activity yet because you are shielding, or you live far away, or for any reason, then you can still take part in all the online activity, and submit a final recording for inclusion in the piece. The project will operate as flexibly as possible to accommodate everybody.
Sectional rehearsals will be limited to a maximum of 40 participants. When you sign up to the project please indicate whether you intend to attend your sectional or not. Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, and a waiting list will be in operation for any last minute spaces that open up.
There will be three online sessions which will take place on Sunday afternoons in August, September and October. These will be led by the conductor, and will include tutti and sectional online rehearsals as well as workshops, discussions and social time.
29 August 2-3.30pm
26 September 2-3.30pm
10 October 2-3.30pm
All Together Now is open to everyone, and we would like to encourage players from Grades 1 to 4 to come along and try it out. You must sign up to the project in order to receive full details for each session.
Not really! You’ll need your instrument up and running in working order (better dust off that mouthpiece and clean those strings)!
You will need a device like a laptop, phone or tablet with internet in order to join in with the Zoom sessions. You will also need this device to record an audio or video recording of you playing your part of the final piece (as well as headphones). You won’t need any fancy software though – only what comes on your device.
If you would like to take part in this project but you don’t have access to a device capable of recording please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
