Patrick Hahn is Principal Guest Conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, General Music Director of Sinfonieorchester und Oper Wuppertal and Principal Guest Conductor of Münchner Rundfunkorchester of the Bayerischer Rundfunk. He is one of the most sought after and exciting conductors of his generation.

In his third season in Wuppertal, Patrick’s symphonic and choral programmes include Mahler’s Symphony No2, Bruckner Symphony No9, Wagner’s Der Ring ohne Worte, Zemlinsky’s Seejungfrau, Varese’s Ameriques, to name but few. The operas there this season include Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde, Schoenberg’s Erwartung and E.Symth’s Der Wald.

After successful concerts, productions and recordings as the Principal Guest Conductor of Münchner Rundfunkorchester, in his third season Patrick returns to conduct Zemlinsky’s Lyrische Symphonie with Marlis Petersen and Milan Siljanov joining him as soloists and ends the season with the popular televised ‘Space Night in Concert’.

As a guest conductor in the 2023:24 season, Patrick makes his first appearances at SWR conducting Sibelius’ Symphony No6, Zurich Opera with Barrie Kosky’s new production Die lustige Witwe, New National Theatre Tokyo with Die Fledermaus. Return visits include Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, Royal Scottish National Orchestra and Wiener Symphoniker for Schoenberg’s Erwartung at the Musikverein.

Previous season’s highlights include his successful debuts with Deutsche Symphony Orchester Berlin and Bamberg Symphony with Sol Gabetta, Tonhalle Orchester Zurich conducting Bruckner’s Symphony No4, Royal Scottish National Orchestra in concerts and recording and Opera Frankfurt with La Cenerentola. Patrick Hahn enjoys a regular relationship with Wiener Symphoniker and Klangforum Wien and has acted as Principal Guest Conductor and Artistic Advisor for Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic between 2021-2023.

Aside from his work in classical music, Patrick accompanies himself on the piano singing cabaret-songs by the Austrian satirist and composer Georg Kreisler. As a jazz pianist, he received awards from the Chicago Jazz Festival and the ‘Outstanding Soloist Award’ from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse as the best jazz pianist of the 37th Annual Jazz Festival.

Ukrainian pianist Vadym Kholodenko has captured audiences across the globe with his depth of sound, exceptional refinement of expression and consummate virtuosity. This multiple-award winning pianist (Van Cliburn Competition, Schubert Competition in Dortmund, Sendai Competition in Japan) is in demand both for his recitals and concerto appearances and was 21/22 Artist in Residence with the SWR Symphonieorchester performing Fauré, Brahms, Rachmaninov and Beethoven across the season.

His international career has brought him to orchestras in Europe, the USA and Japan including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Staatskapelle Weimar, BBC Symphony, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, Japan Philharmonic, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony and Sydney Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with conductors such as Vladimir Fedoseyev, Teodor Currentzis, Kirill Karabits, Louis Langrée, Andrey Boreyko, Christian Macelaru, Pinchas Zukerman, Krzysztof Urbanski, Yuri Bashmet, Thomas Søndergård, Ion Marin, Valery Gergiev, Dmitry Slobodeniuk, Lionel Bringuier and Kazuki Yamada in repertoire including concertos by Brahms, Beethoven, Bartók, Scriabin, Rachmaninov and Busoni.

Current concerto engagements include performances with the Danish National Symphony, Lahti Symphony, Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Musica (Busoni), Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and a tour with Rotterdam Sinfonia including a performance at the Concertgebouw. Other recent engagements have seen Kholodenko perform with the Cincinnati Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, BBC Scottish Symphony, RTE National Orchestra of Ireland, Janacek Philharmonic, Filarmonica Toscanini, Bournemouth Symphony, Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, Orchestre Philharmonique de Luxembourg, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Copenhagen Philharmonic, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Barcelona Symphony, RTVE Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional de España and the NCPA Orchestra in Beijing.

As a recitalist Kholodenko has performed throughout the United States including in New York, Washington and Boston and at the Aspen Music Festival. Appearances in Europe and beyond include the Vienna Konzerthaus, Wigmore Hall, LSO St Luke’s, Liszt Academy Budapest as well as venues in Paris, Moscow, Bilbao, Brussels, Lucerne, as well as Beijing and Singapore and in Japan. Festival performances include the SWR Schwetzinger Festspiele, La Roque d’Anthéron and Chopin Festival in Warsaw.

Kholodenko’s recordings for Harmonia Mundi include the Grieg Piano Concerto and Saint-Saëns Piano Concerto No 2 which was awarded Editor’s Choice in Gramophone “a truly outstanding recording” and the complete cycle of Prokofiev Piano Concertos. His disc of solo works by Scriabin received a Diapason d’Or de l’année and last season he released two further solo discs of works by Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky. Future plans include works by Chopin and Godovsky and Rzewski’s “The People United will Never be Defeated!” for the Quartz label.

Vadym Kholodenko was born in Kyiv from Israeli heritage and gave his first concerts at the age of 13 in the USA, China, Hungary and Croatia. He studied at the Moscow State Conservatoire under Professor Vera Gornostaeva.
